I'm the last splash...

Today was my birthday.

It was the first one in a long time where I wasn't anxious. I wasn't thinking about the fact that I was another year older and still not a mother. I remember my 31st birthday, the year I knew I would be a mother. Hmph. That was six years ago.

But today, today I am. And it was different. It made a difference. I felt light, happy, some might say ebullient even. That heavy, heavy weight of the question--would I be a mother?--gone.

I took the babies swimming! It was glorious. I received gerbera daisies from a dear friend Gail. I did someshopping, completely alone--divine. And the night will end with a chocolate cupcake filled with a caramel mousse. Oh yes.

    i look at those pictures and think 'one day, her children, grown up, will look at the pictures and think of what a beautiful mother they have, and feel good inside about how much they are loved'.

    congratulations on a birthday arriving with you as a mother! i was supposed to be 35, but ended up being 41 before that day came for me, and i relate to that noticeable absence of strife of 'when will this happen'... i wish this absence of strife for all of our IF friends still having birthdays that tic-toc away with no child yet.

    you look fabulous, and your children are so beautiful. this is a sweet time of life for you all! happy birthday!

    33 was my year I was "sure" to have a baby in my arms. Now praying our adoption happens by 38 (39?!). But it will happen.

    Happy birthday! Looks positively lovely. Like you and others, birthdays have been (still are!) hard. I'll be 37 next week, trying to become a mom since I was 33. Feels like this pursuit/quest/dream has occupied my entire 30's. Thanks for reminding us it DOES happen.
